Backbone.js Backbone.js is a way to give JavaScript-powered Web apps structure they don't possess by default. Think of it as the yin to AngularJS's yang. Although AngularJS is an entire framework for developing MVC-style apps using HTML and JavaScript, Backbone.js is a much simpler tool for incorporating models, views, and events.

Backbone.js doesn't have built-in support for things like two-way data binding (as AngularJS does), but for those reasons it might be a better complement to existing applications. It's "a library, not a framework," as the documentation puts it, and sometimes that's all you need. Among those putting Backbone.js to use: Hulu, Gawker Media, Disqus, Airbnb, Pandora, Spin, Pitchfork, and tons more.
