Andy Bechtolsheim Andy Bechtolsheim was Sun’s chief system architect. He was responsible for industry standard server architecture and the birth of the workstation (one of Sun's greater successes, based on Bechtolsheim's work at Stanford). Bechtolsheim said he was frustrated and tired of waiting for computer time on the University's central system. So, he created his own computer running the Unix operating system.
