Hands-on with the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0

We go hands-on with Samsung's latest Android tablet, the Galaxy Note 8.0

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 has an 8in screen and includes a Wacom-powered stylus called the 'S Pen'. It's on sale now in Australia and we've just got our hands on a review unit. Let's check it out!

The design of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 doesn't break any new ground. It uses the same glossy, plastic finish already set by the company's Galaxy S 4 and Galaxy Note II smartphones, along with the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet. The first thing you'll notice is a much thicker bezel than the Apple iPad mini.

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
