In Pictures: Who are tech’s highest paid CEOs?

Oracle’s Larry Ellison finally ousted from the top spot on our list of highest paid tech execs. We count them down from 50 to 1. (All figures in $US)

Steve Ballmer, Microsoft CEO and director

Ballmer received compensation valued at $1.38 million in 2011, prompting the company to say he’s underpaid compared to his peers. Ballmer’s total package is up 2% compared to 2010, when he received $1.35 million. Ballmer's 2011 pay package included a $682,500 salary, $685,500 bonus (half of the $1.37 million bonus he was eligible to receive), and a modest $11,915 in perks. At his own request, Ballmer didn't receive any stock awards or option awards. The company, meanwhile, grew revenue and income by 12% and 23%, respectively, in its 2011 fiscal year. Revenue came in at $69.9 billion, up from $62.5 billion in 2010. Net income hit $23.2 billion, up from $18.8 billion in the prior year.
