SanDisk’s SlotRadio: A Return to Digital Music's Bad Old Days

The world of digital music is finally opening up, with Apple removing DRM from the tracks you buy at iTunes. Which is what makes SanDisk’s SlotRadio, an MP3 player that uses microSD cards preloaded with music, not just a bad idea, but an anachronistic bad idea. You can't copy the music you buy on these cards; you can’t play it on another device; you can't even change the order in which the tunes play on a playlist. Nobody needs that now. --Edward N. Albro
