The Tyagi Max19 19in LCD television is a good low-cost choice for a second television for a child's room, study or bedroom. A high resolution means HD video looks reasonably good, and despite a few aspect ratio and scaling problems we enjoyed the images this LCD television produced.

Millennius' eMpress 22" LCD TV has an integrated DVD player, a high-definition television tuner and a wide range of inputs — it's a versatile option for use as a second television around the house. Picture quality isn't the greatest available on a small screen, but it's adequate for casual watching.

The Millennius eMperor 40" Full HD LCD TV has a very similar design, similar interface and similar picture quality to most of the other budget LCD televisions we've seen. It's not bad and doesn't have any crippling problems, but it fails to stand out from its competition.

We're looking forward to the chance to spend some quality time with the Panasonic Viera TH-P50VT20a -- a 3D-capable plasma TV -- when we get it into our Test Centre. For now here are our impressions based on a demonstration staged by Panasonic.

There is plenty to like about the Sony Bravia HX900 LED-backlit LCD television, for both 2D and 3D content. The BRAVIA Internet Video platform is particularly exciting for couch surfers, while 3D capabilities show plenty of promise, though require some further tweaking. We're looking forward to putting these TVs through their paces in our Test Centre

Soniq's 26in LCD television provides a decent quality viewing experience on the cheap. While it doesn't deliver superlative performance, its integrated DVD player makes it a cheap option for the kids or in the bedroom.

Toshiba's mid-range LCD panel is a competent offering with some useful picture-enhancing features. It's too expensive at its recommended retail price, but if you can find it cheaper than this then it may be worth picking up.

The Panasonic TH-L32G10A offers better picture quality and more features than many small LCD televisions, but you'll have to shell out extra cash for it.

The LG 47LS90QD is an advanced LED television with a wide range of image enhancing features. We think it would be most at home when wall-mounted and professionally calibrated, but even straight out of the box it provides plasma-rivalling picture quality.

Cornea's 1080PRO LCD television provides reasonable picture quality for a low price. It's not as refined as more expensive TVs but if you're looking for a budget Full HD set for a mid-size room then it's worth checking out

Panasonic's TH-P54Z1A plasma television is the pinnacle of 2009 plasma television design. It's only an inch thick, and it has wireless Full HD 1080p streaming and a very high quality plasma panel. Apart from its wallet-bashing price tag, the Panasonic TH-P54Z1A is a great unit.

This large-screen plasma television has a body that's only 2in thick, a THX mode that optimises picture quality for movie watching, and a range of cinema-quality picture enhancements. If we were in the market for a big screen television, the Panasonic TH-P58V10A would probably top our list.

For a casual viewer or anyone on a budget, the Celestial LT4268TA LCD television is a reasonable purchase with acceptable image quality. Several aspects of this television are inferior even to TVs from other budget brands, but as a cheap LCD panel it is still worth considering.

The Kogan PRO26 is an LCD television designed for a bedroom or study where space is at a premium. It's a good unit for casual television watching but its picture quality won't suit Blu-ray video or high-definition movies.
