Creative ZEN Mosaic EZ300

If you’re looking for a cheap MP3 player from a well-known brand, the Creative Mosaic EZ300 is an option. It is not one we would recommend though, with few quantifiable improvements over the earlier ZEN Mosaic and a feature list that looks markedly outdated next to competitors’ offerings.

If you’re keen for music while swimming or in the bath, the Nu Dolphin Touch is the player for you. Its interface isn't great and the bundled ear-buds aren’t comfortable, but its waterproof nature and rugged body mean it can go where more civilised MP3 players can’t.

The Sangean DPR-99 DAB+ Radio is a good looking, portable digital radio that can pick up FM radio, DAB and DAB+ signals. Although it's a little pricey for a digital radio that lacks extra features, it's well worth considering.

If you’re looking for a portable media player with exceptionally good audio and video quality, and the added bonus of native XviD support, the Cowon S9 is the one for you. It doesn’t have the design flair or great interface of the Apple iPod touch, but overall it is an impressive product.

If you are the type of person who will simply switch on your iPod and let it play, then the new iPod shuffle may appeal to you. As it stands, though, Apple’s latest music player is too small, uses a frustrating control system and doesn’t allow flexibility when it comes to third-party headphones.
