Best upcoming smartphones in 2013

2013 has just kicked off but there are already a number of smartphones that have been announced and are set to be released in the very near future!
The biggest buzz right now seems to be around the Sony Xperia Z. Unlike most previous Sony smartphones, there appears to be genuine hype about this device. It features a 5in full HD 1080p display, a 13-megapixel camera and is both water and dust-resistant.
Perhaps the most anticipated smartphone, however, is the BlackBerry Z10. New name, new smartphone, new era. That's probably the best way to describe BlackBerry right now and the Z10 could be the company's last roll of the dice in a bid to stay relevant in the market.
A little known contender is the Oppo Find 5. It has a 1080p IPS touchscreen with a resolution of 1080x1920. It's actually the first full HD smartphone to launch in Europe and many other international markets and it's coming to Australia very soon.
LG's flagship Optimus G smartphone is also finally arriving in Australia in March after a release in most other global markets late in 2012. It will be sold exclusively through Telstra in Australia but could it be too little, too late?
Nokia's entry-level Lumia 620 Windows Phone will also be released in Australia. It's targeted at a "youthful demographic" and has a 3.8in, TFT touchscreen with a resolution of 800x480.

Poor battery life and the lack of a microSD card slot are downsides, but the 4G-capable Optimus G is fast, well-designed and has some handy software features. It's definitely LG's best smartphone ever.
