Top rated digital SLR cameras: August 2011
- — 23 August, 2011 13:42
The digital SLR market is dominated by two players: Canon and Nikon. This is reflected in our August top rated list for digital cameras, with Pentax being the only other vendor getting a look in. We haven't included any Sony cameras in the list as we are yet to review any of the latest models, nor did we include the Olympus E-5, because we didn't rate it highly enough.
We haven't included Micro Four Thirds cameras or other types of mirror-less cameras in this list because they are not quite the same as a digital SLR -- we have a separate list for those cameras.
8 / 10
The Nikon D3100 may only be an entry-level SLR camera, but it's capable of supplying very good image quality and it also has the ability to shoot HD video. It's a comfortable camera to hold and an easy one to use, and its in-built guides allow you to learn how to use its manual features on-the-fly. It's a great model for a novice user.
