Remember the days when mobile phones were becoming smaller and smaller? These days they're becoming bigger and bigger, mainly thanks to large, touchscreen displays.
Apple's iPhone may have kicked off the trend with its 3.5in capacitive touchscreen but the competition has well and truly surged ahead — many of the latest smartphones now come with displays 4in and over in size including the 4.3in HTC Desire HD, the upcoming 4.2in Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc and the 4in Samsung Galaxy S, Google Nexus S and Samsung Omnia 7.

The world's first 3D smartphone, the appropriately-named LG Optimus 3D, is limited in its use, with the 3D camera and 3D gaming the main highlights. The 3D concept itself is well integrated, but the Optimus 3D has mediocre battery life, and its chunky design is a turn off, making it difficult to recommend.
