These days a smartphone is a must-have for many students, whether they go high school, college, TAFE or university. We've rounded up some of the best phones for students, from basic budget offerings like the Android-powered Huawei IDEOS U8150 to the waterproof Motorola Defy, and the ever-popular Apple iPhone 4.

Nokia's X3 Touch and Type's form factor may initially look a little odd, but the experience using it is anything but. This is an excellent, basic feature phone with a great design, and it is highly recommended for anyone who doesn't need a fully fledged, expensive smartphone.
