Best upcoming tablets in 2011

The best tablets still to come in 2011, from the Sony Tablet S to the Huawei MediaPad

2011 has been a massive year for tablets, helped along by the debut of Apple's iPad 2. However despite the year fast approaching its end, there is still plenty of tablets to come in 2011: the most anticipated are Sony's late-arriving Tablet S and Tablet P duo, and Samsung's eagerly awaited Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 7.7.

Sony Tablet P

Sony deserves credit for trying something different in a market full of devices that offer minimal distinguishing features. However, its Tablet P doesn't succeed due to an inconsistent user experience, mediocre battery life and a design that makes it uncomfortable to hold and use. This one is sadly best avoided.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
