HTC may not have the same brand recognition as the likes of Apple and Nokia, but the Taiwanese manufacturer of smartphones has made huge strides in the mobile market. HTC is widely considered to be the top manufacturer of Android smartphones, and also produces devices running Microsoft's new mobile operating system, Windows Phone 7. HTC also manufactured the world's first Android smartphone, the HTC Dream (better known as the T-Mobile G1 in the US) and is best known for its HTC Desire, which is exclusively sold through Telstra in Australia.

HTC's Wildfire S offers decent value for money, but doesn't come without compromises. However, those looking for a relatively compact and affordable smartphone are likely to be pleased with its combination of excellent build quality and intuitive software.
