The best HTC phones: We round-up the top HTC smartphones on the market

HTC may not have the same brand recognition as the likes of Apple and Nokia, but the Taiwanese manufacturer of smartphones has made huge strides in the mobile market. HTC is widely considered to be the top manufacturer of Android smartphones, and also produces devices running Microsoft's new mobile operating system, Windows Phone 7. HTC also manufactured the world's first Android smartphone, the HTC Dream (better known as the T-Mobile G1 in the US) and is best known for its HTC Desire, which is exclusively sold through Telstra in Australia.

HTC Desire S

The HTC Desire S is an evolutionary rather than revolutionary upgrade over the original Desire. It remains an excellent smartphone, but it hits the market at a time when competition is fiercer than ever. We think it's a good all-rounder at a competitive price, but the Desire S does little to stand out amongst the crowd.
