The best compact digital cameras for photographers
- — 06 September, 2010 13:00
For the times when you don't want to lug around a digital SLR, yet still want to capture great quality images, you need to have an awesome compact camera -- preferably one with manual controls. The best compact cameras for pros include Canon's PowerShot G11, Ricoh's GR Digital III, Panasonic's LUMIX DMC-LX3 and Samsung's EX1. In time, we'll be adding Canon's PowerShot G12 to the list, as well as Panasonic's LUMIX DMC-LX5.
8 / 8
The Canon PowerShot G11 is a good camera, but it's not without its flaws. We wish it had sturdier buttons and that its zoom control was better. Photos are a little soft, but this camera is still capable of capturing some excellent pictures. It's a good choice for users who want full manual control but dislike the idea of paying over $1000 for a digital SLR kit.
