I am not happy with this product.
My problem is with the Time & Date Setting! Although I have followed the instructions in setting the time & date. I find that the settings change frequently / daily. This is very noticeable when setting up to record a program. I often find that the time & date settings have changed and go back to; example 1/1/2008 & it could be any time. Before recording a program I have to check the settings again. Also I find on some occasion's that the program chosen hasn't recorded because the Time & Date had changed before the recording had started. Example; back to the 1/4/2004 or some other incorrect Time & Date. Question; Why doesn't the Time & Date setting be saved and set permanently in the TRF 2100? Can some one help me out Please? Kevin.

Can't fin External Hardrive, with power conenction 1 terrabite

Can anyone tell me how to install/access the External Hardrive to the Topfield TRF-2100 Personal Video REcorder? I have tried several different things...I have reformatted my Ext Hardrive to NTFS...and still Ic an't seem to access the content via SEt up.

Also have update the firmware and this didn't work eaither.
1. Download a new firmware from the Topfield
website.
2. Copy the firmware file to your memory
stick.
3. Insert the USB memory stick into the USB
port on the digital receiver.
4. Select the Installation > Firmware Upgrade > USB
Firmware Upgrade menu, and the files in the USB memory
will be listed.

Appreciate simple guidelines how to access my USB stick or External hardrive via Video REcorder.

With thanks, Astrid

Pros
Nothing hot
Cons
Cables poor quality, poor picture quality, manual is useless
• • •

Do not buy.
While it comes with a hdmi cable, it is such a cheap cable that it lost signal regularly. Had to buy a new hdmi cable. The manual and remote leave a lot of guess work.
Also the manual doesn't warn you that you can't go into the recorded programs list and watch a program while it is recording - loses the whole show!
Encountered a lot of issues but there is basically nothing in the manual about trouble shooting.

Pros
Easy to use, good general function.
Cons
Dreadfully incomplete user manual.

Have had the machine for about 2 months now, have done numerous TV program recordings, good if possibly not 100% reliability, I suspect I missed programs twice now, but it's possible I made a mistake on the programs.
One curious aspect is that TV shows of about same length, often seem to occupy completely disproportionate file sizes, one 60min show might be a 3.5gb file, another might be half that size. shrugs. The list of recorded programs also tends to show them as completely different lengths to what they should be, a 1 hr show might be listed as 23mins long. However, don't fret, when you commence playback, you are relieved to find the whole show is there and correct length.
Learning how to use the machine fully, is maybe a combination of previous PVR/DVR experience, and trial and error. The user manual is about 8 pages after the usual preamble about installation.
Completely inadequate manual, but you learn operations by a close examination of the RC and it's buttons and the manual page on the RC layout, and by trial and error. Many operations and functions are just not described in the manual.

But for a couple of quirks, it has so far done some good recording work for me, and I record a fair bit of TV...playbacks are good quality through the HDMI lead, and easy to control for FFWD ads etc.
Would I purchase the unit again, for what I paid ?
Yes. So far I have had my modest money's worth. If it keeps going for a couple of years as it is, I will be satisfied.

Topfield must be the WORST brand on the planet. I have had more trouble than I thought possible. The remote controls keep breaking down., (I have had 5 within 12 months) It overheats all the time. It goes blank and then back to the picture at irregular intervals with no warning.

When you contact customer service, there is none. I think only one person works there and he uses different names. Every time I have rung, I got the same person. What a joke! I would rather pay more for a product from another company than buy ANYTHING from Topfield ever again.

Pros
Nothing
Cons
Crashes. Stops recording. Scrambles the service. The interface has bugs. I will never buy a topfield again. So annoying
• • •

Do not buy this product if you want something that works as it should. I don't know how this recorder could work so badly. The only reliable thing it does is crash at midnight and therefore nearly every movie i record has the last 10 or so minutes missing. Lately it doesn't even start recording sometimes. I give this product zero points for reliability.

faulty?

I have found three issues with this product
1. Normal TV viewing cannot done while the PVR is in standby mode
2. There is no clock display when the PVR is in standby mode
3. When connected to the TV with HDMI cable and HD station broadcasting in DOLBY audio has no sound. In fact it makes an annoying buzzing sound

I haven't yet looked at recording on it yet!

Pros
Cheap
Cons
Works occasionally, usually doesn't
• • •

Terrible product. Records sometimes, even when its shows its recording when you want to watch its not there. When you do manage to record and watch it goes out of sinc and the sounds do not match up properly which is dreadful to watch. It says you can adjust and add time to the recording, which you need to do because none of the tv stations run their programs on time, but I have never yet had one that recorded when I did that. You cannot fast forward without it going crazy. The user manual is a joke. Do not buy this product. Its a total waste of money and so frustrating.

Pros
A basic PVR that promised to work similarly to our TF4410.
Cons
A basic PVR that worked occasionally.
• • •

In fact we have had three different TRF 2100's and none worked properly. Even after a firmware upgrade/reinstall it still skipped back to Live TV while viewing Time Shift. The fast forward and reverse worked randomly. The recorded shows could be played occasionally. When it worked it was all we needed. When it didn't, it went back to the retailer three times. I'm beginning to wonder if it has something to do with the Samsung 32" LCD it is plugged into via HDMI. It's all too much. I think I'll buy a piano and learn to play and sing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
