the 4700 is my 6'th printer. I had many of a very popular competitor. though it printed beautiful photos, (which is what i want in a printer), if you left it on for more then 2 weeks, it clogged, and could not be cleaned. Ive left my 4700 on for months, and it prints first time, every time. I'll not buy any other brand. BTW, unless you're realty into photos, you might get more use from an all-in-one (The canon MP series)

I love this model of printer and had an 1P4200 for several years, but wanted to upgrade as I had a big printing job ahead of me. This one though seems to have a problem with allowing the red ink to flow through the head. I bought a new head thinking that had clogged and was no able to be unclogged. But low and behold, again without warning the red, and only the red stops flowing mid print. I've seen other comments along these lines on blogs and noticeboards, perhaps its a problem with the circuitry not the print head.
