Elias how does screen on Vostro 3550 compare to screen on XPS 15 L502X? The one that is more simple version of XPS 15 but that has bad quality screen.

Very fast, very quiet, haven't tried USB3 or E-SATA
Use it for DVD/CD ripping and copying to mediaserver, Coding in various languages, browsing, occational virtual serves (runs easily a win7, and a couple of ubuntu instances). Runs 3 to 4 hours on small battery. Supports 7.1 over HDMI to receiver. VLC uses 4-7%cpu when showing h.264 ripped DVD with 5.1 in mkv container. That could be better, but hey, we're talking Intel and drivers. My mediaserver,revo3600/Atom330/Nvidia ION, uses less. Using GPU acceleration in VLC apparently doesn't work properly (Intel, where are you?)

Hi,
I'd bought a Vostro 3550 which equips with i5-2410M. Love it so far.
My 6-cell battery only gives 3 hr runtime. Less when playing movies. Since I have an SSD, I was thinking about replacing the stock one hoping the SSD would give better battery runtime. However, after unscrewing the 3 screws of that compartment, the cover doesn't seem to budge.
Is there anything else I need to unscrew JUST TO OPEN THE COVER like in your picture?
Thanks. Great review.

Hey, I just purchased this machine. Do you think it has substantial differences between the Vostro 3500? Becuase I thought of getting the 3500, and then got the 3550 instead. thank you! :)
