I agree with the review above - these speakers are quite bass heavy and at first i really didn't like the sound from my iPod with these speakers. However, when I hooked them up to a TV, they sounded much better. This prompted me to try my laptop and use the equaliser settings - much better again. Back to the iPod, I fiddled with the preset equaliser settings and found that the "JAZZ" setting did the trick! I then bought some stands 60cm high and positioned them a good 6 inches from the wall... perfect !! These speakers are seriously worth investing a little time to get things right. If they had tone controls, yes i could have just pulled the bass down a bit. However, on stands, with the right equaliser settings, they are great. The whole package is very simple and nicely thought out, with power to the dock coming direct from the speaker, along the same wire as the 3.5mm audio line wire meaning just one plug into the mains. If you can get hold of a good second hand (used) pair, I'd go for them... I'm glad I did !! Honestly... you CAN get the bass down with the right stands, positioning and careful use of the EQ settings on your iPod :-)
