- ProsLove the wi-fi connection to PC
- ConsCan't watch one channel and record another!
While this was easy to configure and I was able to wirelessly connect to my PC to watch my movies etc I was disappointed to see that when recording you couldn't watch another station. This is a major drawback for us given I don't like football. We got around it by connecting up a second PVR to the TV and using that to do records and only used this one for time-shift or recording when we weren't wanting to watch another channel.

Out of the box I initially thought it was a piece of crap, but after downloading the latest firmware, it was a fantastic unit at good price, but a horrible interface. The interface reminds myself of what the DOS looked like about 20 years ago ! The unit plays a wide range of video and audio formats. I have a 1 TB hard drive inside the unit, however the hard drive is empty, as I only use the unit to receive streaming movies from another media player, the iomega iconnect. The unit needs a wifi dongle to be able to connect wirelessly. I've seen the unit and the wifi dongle and a HDMI cable and a high gain antenna for as little as $130 on ebay including postage.

If you purchase your equioment on price alone then this unit may be for you as on paper it looks to be an awesome player. If, however, you expect quality and reliability then research this product carefully. The unit is plagued with crashes and faults and although a dedicatated community is trying to iron out bugs in the firmware, Astone are doing nothing to attempt to fix this unit.
