The screen is unreadable in low-level room lighting. I tried different sets of new batteries. I tried using the USB power. Even with good power, the brightest I can get the screen is what I call *faint*. The contrast setting simply doesn't respond to the left-right rocker button. Only the brightness does (it uses the rocker up-down).
