    usb 3

There are only 2 usb ports on the front of this PC and the usb3 doesn't seem to work very well at all (i.e. occasionally but not usually). I've tried to find updates, drivers etc but to no avail so far. Seems like a major failing.

  • Pros
    Nothing
  • Cons
    Lots!!

After about two weeks of use I started getting a "No Signal can be Detected" message on my monitor. I thought perhaps the monitor was no good, so I plugged in an old monitor I had and the same issue arose. Prior to this it was already having problems reading the optical drive, and it keeps crashing / freezing. There doesn't seem to be any virus issues as I have an anti-virus program running and did a scan which came back clean. Frankly this is ANOTHER terrible ALDI product, grrrr i am so over that damn place!

  • Pros
    1TB HD, 4G RAM & Quad CPU
  • Cons
    Wi-Fi is unreliable

Graphics a bit sluggish with games. The Wi-Fi is unreliable it loses connection every now and then. No option to expand RAM as 2 slots already full. No option to expand PCIe slot as I can only find one already in use. PSU only 350 watts but quiet. Quad CPU is awesome and 4G RAM means I can open multiple applications with no lag. 2 years warranty and 60 day change of mind return policy is good - no other store offers these.

  • Pros
    Cpu & Ram
  • Cons
    No PSU wattage

Is it really so hard for professional reviewers to open the case and see A:what the wattage is on the power supply and B:If there are any PCIe power connectors to make upgrading the video card (that you bagged) a possibility?
Pretty slack guys....

  • Pros
Weight & Dimensions of boxed unit?
  • Cons
    Info re size/weight

I would like to calculate the cost of freight before deciding to purchase this item so need weight and dimensions of the packaged product. I don't expect ALDI to send as I can arrange for the purchase and collection by a third party.
Thanks.

I had a previous Aldi (Medion) desktop. It had a common fault in the gpu and medion UK replaced them - medion Australia refused to because our warranty was less than theirs - I thought that was pretty lousy of Medion.

Anyhow - the gpu is specially made for OEM's - you cannot buy a replacement one yourself. So be a bit careful

Also - I have a question.

Is the motherboard a proprietary one?

I know other one's have been (like my one that died) which means you have to buy a replacement through Medion as you cannot buy them anywhere else. Medion tried to charge me double the cost of a similar one as they had MSI do a special run of motherboards just for them with their special additions to it.

I take it from the review that the gaming capabilities are modest and are not upgradable. Is this correct?
