Having reviewed the previous X-Slim Keyboard and been impressed, we were looking forward to seeing what i-Rocks had in-store for us with their Slim Cordless USB Keyboard and Optical Mouse combination. Overall the package impressed. Our original test unit had some problems with the wireless responsiveness, but we have since received a second one which exhibited none of these problems, leading us to believe the first had a manufacturing fault. The new package offered excellent signal strength, comfortable typing and a snazzy design, making it a great choice for those looking for a simple, wireless desktop solution.
The X-Slim Keyboard we looked at was a wired unit, so we were excited about the prospect of a wireless version, and we were not disappointed. The signal stayed strong and everything we typed appeared quickly and accurately. Those after a wireless keyboard and mouse package for long days of typing in the office will find the Slim Cordless USB Keyboard and Optical Mouse will fit the bill nicely.
It uses scissor keys, like those found on most notebooks, rather than the traditional desktop keys. They are more shallowly mounted and are much more comfortable to use.
The same can't be said for the mouse though. It is extremely small, so those with large fingers will struggle. We also experienced some accuracy issues although these weren't too prevalent. It was tough to make precise clicks on small areas, and every so often the connection seemed to jitter.
Connectivity is achieved via a small USB wireless adapter stored in a slot in the bottom of the mouse, making it great for transportation. Aesthetically the package is quite notable, with a pearl white and silver colour scheme that looks right at home amongst a modern PC setup. Our only issue with the design was the absence of a caps lock light, meaning we could never quite tell if we'd accidentally bumped it or not until we started typing. The unit has no media keys, but this allows for a slim design, so it won't occupy a large chunk of real estate on your desk.
