An average camera for the average user. The S3 isn't a bad choice, it takes some fairly good snaps, has most of the basic functions...but so do most of its competitors.

A competant but not oustanding budget offer, the Coolpix L4 will more than suffice for occasional snapshots.

The D2X offers a fine upgrade for Nikon pros and is competitively priced

If you don't need a fast continuous shot mode, then the MJU 740 is a great camera, particularly when shooting in low light or fast paced situations.

Packing in a 7x optical zoom into a slim body Olympus' MJU 1020 is a fantastic all around point and shoot. It takes nice snaps, has a ton of features and looks sensational. Our only major concern is the slow burst mode, which may impact some users.

While the E330 is a fairy good camera in its own right you are essentially paying $500 for live review, which isn't all that great, and lower image quality.

A brilliantly designed unit, the MJU 780 will please a variety of consumers with its optical image stabilisation, 5x optical zoom and high ISO sensitivities. Its pictures aren't the best on the market but they are more than adequate for most uses.

Olympus' E-520 is a great D-SLR that is more than capable of competing with the big guns from Canon and Nikon. Its images are impressive and the feature set is robust enough to satisfy all but the most demanding photographer.

The MJU 760 is a strong compact camera with particular appeal for beginner photographers thanks to Olympus' guide system and its intuitive interface. Combine these with good picture quality and a classy design, and have you a great product.

While not a perfect camera, Olympus' SP-560UZ is an excellent choice for users after an ultra-zoom. It combines good pictures with a robust feature set and a fantastic design.
