Simply put, Nikon's D300 is one of the finest cameras on the market. Its image quality matches competing models, and while you pay a premium, you get such features as live view, dust reduction, D-Lighting and a bevy of others in return. Perfect for enthusiasts and professionals.

Nikon's CoolPix S520 doesn't do anything out of the ordinary. It provides decent image quality, a simple set of features and has a nice design, but it does have some speed problems and the pictures aren't perfect.

A competant but not oustanding budget offer, the Coolpix L4 will more than suffice for occasional snapshots.

While the slim design and simple interface are both appealing, the massive amounts of haloing in our outdoor shots coupled with the high levels of noise mean the Nikon CoolPix S210 produces less than impressive pictures.

If zooming is your thing, then the S4 might be the perfect point and shoot for you.

As the first SLR to shoot video footage, Nikon's D90 is certainly an appealing product. The video mode itself still needs some work but it is fine for casual use and the still image capabilities are top notch as always making this another impressive, feature-rich mid-range D-SLR.

Nikon's S700 isn't an incredible compact camera, but it does the job combining good pictures with a reasonable feature set, which will be fine for most consumers.

If you can get the wireless technology working easily, this is a brilliant purchase. Definitely on our watch list.

The D80 is one of the best cameras on the market, offering exceptional image quality and a bevy of features. The default lens has some chromatic aberration issues, but aside from that, we have no issue recommending it.

The Nikon D40 is a great entry level SLR, and a good competitor to Canon's EOS 400D. It captures high quality pictures, has speedy operation and great low light performance, making it a wonderful choice for the budding enthusiast.

"The little dwarf" is a reasonable purchase. It has no extremely bad features, and offers some exceptionally sharp pictures in the right setting.

Nikon's diminutive 5.1-megapixel camera is simple to use, and it delivers more-powerful features than you'd expect from a camera priced at under $300.
