A strong all purpose display panel, NEC's MultiSync LCD2490WUXi is a good choice for those after a big display for a variety of tasks.

If you are looking for a monitor with accurate colour representation the NEC MultiSync LCD2690WUXi is right for you.

All things considered, this monitor is very easy on the eyes. Its colour reproduction was excellent, it didn't suffer from any motion problems and it was viewable even from the most obtuse angles. It's well worth considering, if you can afford it, and not only can it be used as a computer monitor, it can also be used to plug in gaming consoles, a digital TV set-top box, or even a VCR.

For everyday tasks, this Flatron is well-suited. It doesn't produce a perfect image, but it does a serviceable job of displaying images and movies.

With its sleek, one-button design and iPod-like white finish, the Samsung SyncMaster 970P has style to spare - if you can spare the cash to buy it.

Despite a couple of little problems with the greyscale and black level, this screen is worth considering, especially for an office environment.

If its black level wasn't set so low, we would give this monitor a higher rating as its not a bad monitor overall. But, the lack of definition in dark areas was enough to put us off.

The Samsung SyncMaster 244T offers a very nice image with some useful features, though shorter people may find the minimum height of thestand doesn't suit their needs.

The only problem with this monitor is its reflective screen, which can be a bit of a nuisance in a well-lit environment. Apart from that, its colours and luminance were exceptional in all our tests. It's well-suited to viewing and editing photos, as well as movie-watching and game-playing.

Dell's UltraSharp 2007WFP monitor is a great choice for those after an all around PC monitor for day-to-day usage.

While the technology behind the Acer AL1917L is quite impressive, the application still needs a little work. Colours are exceptional but the viewing angle and over sharpening don't do it any favours. There are better monitors on the market, but if you want to be more environmentally conscious, this monitor will do the job.

It remains to be seen if Chei Mei can sort out the image problems we observed in this engineering sample for the shipping version of this monitor. We hope it does, because its vast inputs make it a decent choice for an environment where multiple devices will be plugged in to it. We'll be updating this review (and our rating) once the shipping version becomes available to us.
