The image quality of the Acer AL2616WD is quite close to being flawless and considering the size and price this is a bargain purchase for anyone looking to take their PC display to the next level.

Though the P221W warrants praise for its solid text and graphics quality, its price disqualifies it from serious consideration for most users.

Slightly more affordable than the P223W but also less flashy, the X223W nonetheless is a reasonable choice if you're after an all-purpose monitor. It does have some contrast issues, but they aren't hugely problematic, and the overall image quality is relatively good.

A solid 22in display from Acer, the P223W will suit users regardless of whether they want to play games, watch films or just browse the Web.

It's not a perfect monitor; viewing from the sides and from the top causes some colour-shift and it did look a little dull in our photo tests, but the 245B is a decent high-definition monitor for productivity and multimedia use. The ASUS VW222 would suit both office and gaming use, but has issues regarding its appeal to each demographic. For gamers, the integrated speakers could be a turn off while the limited calibration options could be problematic for office users that require a monitor with accurate and adjustable colour.

While the VW202T displayed good colours and contrast, it isn't vibrant. Its black colour also isn't rich enough. For everyday applications, however, and for use in an office or at home, it's well suited, and the wide aspect ratio means that two documents can be worked on side-by-side.

With many manufacturers releasing panels at 30in, the 28in Viewsonic VX2835wm is a cheaper and viable alternative.

Dell's UltraSharp 3007WFP-HC is a goliath of a monitor. With 30in of display space, it is large enough for any computer user's needs. Unfortunately, the lack of connectivity and calibration options and a few image quality issues mean it is more suited to those who want the biggest panel they can find, rather than image quality purists.
