The only problem with this monitor is its reflective screen, which can be a bit of a nuisance in a well-lit environment. Apart from that, its colours and luminance were exceptional in all our tests. It's well-suited to viewing and editing photos, as well as movie-watching and game-playing.

While the technology behind the Acer AL1917L is quite impressive, the application still needs a little work. Colours are exceptional but the viewing angle and over sharpening don't do it any favours. There are better monitors on the market, but if you want to be more environmentally conscious, this monitor will do the job.

It remains to be seen if Chei Mei can sort out the image problems we observed in this engineering sample for the shipping version of this monitor. We hope it does, because its vast inputs make it a decent choice for an environment where multiple devices will be plugged in to it. We'll be updating this review (and our rating) once the shipping version becomes available to us.

If you're after a stylish monitor for your home, the LS201 is ideal. Its glass screen makes it an ideal product if you have kids around, as it means the screen won't be damaged by inadvertent pokes. Our tests indicate that it's a good monitor for viewing photos, watching movies and playing games.
