While it doesn't do anything outstanding, the Acer X193W is an affordable and competent 19in monitor that performs quite well whether you're watching films, playing games or just doing general Web browsing and desktop publishing.

A solid 22in display from Acer, the P223W will suit users regardless of whether they want to play games, watch films or just browse the Web.

The Acer Ferrari F-20 is a sweet display with crisp, colorful images and design panache.

Slightly more affordable than the P223W but also less flashy, the X223W nonetheless is a reasonable choice if you're after an all-purpose monitor. It does have some contrast issues, but they aren't hugely problematic, and the overall image quality is relatively good.

The image quality of the Acer AL2616WD is quite close to being flawless and considering the size and price this is a bargain purchase for anyone looking to take their PC display to the next level.

This unit produced an excellent colour response. A great all-round screen for watching movies, playing games or browsing the Internet.

If its black level wasn't set so low, we would give this monitor a higher rating as its not a bad monitor overall. But, the lack of definition in dark areas was enough to put us off.

While the technology behind the Acer AL1917L is quite impressive, the application still needs a little work. Colours are exceptional but the viewing angle and over sharpening don't do it any favours. There are better monitors on the market, but if you want to be more environmentally conscious, this monitor will do the job.

Though the P221W warrants praise for its solid text and graphics quality, its price disqualifies it from serious consideration for most users.

The lack of height adjustment and the glossy panel will turn some users away. These faults aside, there is a lot to like about the 2230Fm. The DMP engine isn’t great, but if you’re after an all-rounder with good image quality, this is a reasonable choice.

The AOC 212VA isn't at the top of the monitor pack, but considering the price tag, this 22in display is good value for money for those looking to make the leap into the widescreen PC display market.

AOC's 2219P2 would have been a pretty middle-of-the-road monitor, but the horrible ghosting issues we encountered coupled with the backlight bleeding mean this is probably a display to steer clear of.
