Offers tonnes of customisation and tactical modern-military action for the series most faithful fans, but doesn't pack enough punch to recommend new recruits to leave their Call of Duty comfort zone.

EndWar is tense, fast-paced and deeply complex while maintaining a very logical and simple set of rules throughout. It's hard to imagine anyone ever making a better strategy game for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

A beautifully vibrant, innovative and incredibly rich game, Valkyria Chronicles is a simply stunning experience from the first battle to the last.

Bigger, badder and better than the first, Resistance 2 improves upon the formula set by its predecessor in almost every way. Unfortunately, a handful of minor issues, such as less than stellar graphics, keep this game from reaching the high bar set by competing titles like Call of Duty 4 and Gears of War 2. Still, with its interesting single-player campaign and robust online component, Resistance 2 has plenty to offer any PS3 owner looking for a quick and easy shooter fix.

A beautiful, in-depth racing experience, MotorStorm delivers on all fronts while remaining a damn fun game to boot.

Awesome action makes up for several shortcomings including a spastic camera and random technical glitches. Web of Shadows delivers the best combat system of any Spider-Man game to date and intense boss battles to go with it. An imperfect effort, but an entertaining one nonetheless

PS3 owners have waited over a year for the chance to visit the underwater utopia (or is it dystopia?) called Rapture, but they can finally stop holding their breath and plunge head first into the amazing depths of BioShock. But if you've already plumbed the game's depths, there's no real compelling reason for a return voyage — at least, not until the DLC content releases.

FIFA 09 isn’t perfect, but it remains the best football game around. The improvements to gameplay, ball physics and AI combine to produce a rewarding experience and the new game modes are excellent and provide hours of fun.

It's one of the most amazing and interesting gaming experiences ever designed. It's a sandbox, it's a playground, it's a set of creation tools powerful enough to fulfil your dreams — it's all those things and more. Seriously, if you own a PS3, you have to experience this game; heck, even if you don't own a PS3, go find someone who does and beg them to let you play. It's something you truly have to experience for yourself and I dare you, I triple purple dog dare you, to try and not enjoy yourself. I promise you won't be able to resist the urge to smile.

Over the top and crazy, Blitz II is an interesting take on the sport of football, but with some glaring missteps, it fumbles on its way to the end zone.

Killer force powers and intense action can't fully save an otherwise inconsistent effort. Still, it has its moments.
