Garmin's nuvi 265W isn't outstanding and does have a couple of faults, but its ease of use and simple operation will appeal to many users.

Garmin has provided a competitive handheld GPS device with the Oregon 300. It provides a full touch-screen experience in combination with a rugged casing and vital navigation tools. We would have preferred more detailed maps, but Garmin has provided room for expandability — making this an excellent choice.

The iPAQ 612c offers a fairly impressive list of features and bundles them to form a reasonable device. The lack of HP software is disappointing and the scroll wheel could use some work, but there is plenty to like about this handset on the whole.

This is an extremely comprehensive system with some high-end GPS features, most notably the 3D Gyro Sensor, but the AVIC-HD3 offers so much more. If you're purely after a GPS device this is more than you'll need. However, if you're after a fully integrated car system with GPS, the Pioneer AVID-HD3 is worth looking further into.

Magellan's CrossoverGPS unit is a fair effort, but it's lacking in some areas. If you do your fair share of walking and boating though, this is definitely worth a look.

The upgraded MMP-401B offers text-to-speech technology, an improved user interface and red light, fixed speed camera and school zone warnings. At this price, it's good value.
