Pleo can be viewed as a major evolutionary step forward in toy robotics. Its artificial intelligence and advanced sensors make its competitors look prehistoric. However, we’re not convinced that Pleo will make for an enjoyable toy, particularly among youngsters who prefer flashy trick-laden gadgets. As such, its appeal will be limited to those who can appreciate the sophisticated AI.

The Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition 2008 is much more than a simple list of high scores. With more trivia than you can shake a joystick at, it will provide countless hours of entertainment to any self-respecting gaming fan.

Despite a few notable flaws, and one of the worst puns we've ever heard, this remains a fun little party game that is ideal for families and non-gamers. If you're a movie buff, you're guaranteed to love it.

On the other hand, we can't say we've ever enjoyed a collectible card game as much, if only for the inexplicable satisfaction derived from watching your TV screen respond in elaborate detail to basic physical gestures with fluid animations and flashy explosions and plenty of cheesy, booming fantasy voiceovers.

Definitely one of the better of WowWee's robots, the Roboquad promises to deliver hours and hours of fun.

In an age where fun is generally obtained in front of a television set or computer monitor, it is good to see that good clean fun still exists.

The Smart Globe does have some minor problems, but the price is very reasonable, and it also offers live update via the Internet, making it an ideal tool to help children learn about the world.

The wow factor of the Electronic Banking edition is very appealing and this Monopoly still provides hours of fun, but we prefer the previous version with play cash.

While this is a reasonably funky device that offers a variety of witty robot one-liners, media playback and some extensive functionality, some of its features could be better implemented, and it commands a price tag that will scare off many potential buyers.

The RoboReptile isn’t all that different from its prehistoric cousin, although the few improvements are definitely welcomed.
