This laptop is a good size and offers better performance than its predecessor. Its bronze style probably won't resonate with many users, and its glossy screen is prone to reflections, but we think it looks pretty good.

The 6930P's size makes it both comfortable to use, as well as easy to transport, and users who require a lot of running time away from an outlet will appreciate the option for a larger second battery. We don't particularly like its latch system, nor the prolonged set up time, and we wish HP would also implement 'Sleep-and-Charge'-like USB 2.0 ports.

Toshiba’s Qosmio F50 is ideal for multimedia, but it is also well suited as an all-purpose notebook. If you can live with the glossy display, there is plenty to like about this unit and it has performance to match its looks.

A well-performing unit that succeeds in both style and substance, the HP dv6800 is a good device for most environments. Its relatively low battery life and lack of Gigabit Ethernet, and the fact that Blu-ray movies overscan at 1080p are the only negatives and these are minor points.

Admittedly there's little to this Pavilion that we haven't seen from the range before, but as the saying goes, if it ain't broke don't fix it. The Blu-ray player is clearly a great bonus, as is the HDMI output. If you're after a notebook to handle your entertainment, this is a good option.

The Pavilion dv6000 is a bit like a supermodel; it's so gorgeous that you're willing to overlook any flaws just to get your hands on it. Thankfully, its catwalk stumbles are kept to a minimum -- an impressive piece of hardware.

It may call itself a gemstone, but the 5920G (302G20N) more closely resembles a diamond in the rough. Those who are willing to chip away at the ugly exterior will be pleased by what they find inside.

A solid notebook, the HP Compaq Presario B1200 isn't a powerhouse machine, but it does come with an array of strong features and a smooth design that makes it a reasonable choice.

We like the steps BenQ has taken with its new range, including the HDMI port and a solid component base. We do feel that more could have been added to enhance the media aspect of this powerful machine, but otherwise it's a pleasure to use.

There's little or nothing to complain about with this notebook. It's got power, long battery life and plenty of functionality.

While it's a fairly stylish notebook with a nice build, we can't help but think that you can get more for your money. If you like the design, but want a better performer, it might be worth waiting for Compaq's new Centrino models to come out.

The LG P1 Pro Express Dual notebook is a nice machine to work with. It feels good, has some useful features and performed as we expected it to from the hardware installed. It will provide a good user experience for everyday use.
