The TravelMate 8104WLMi is a great portable multimedia machine for school or business.

This notebook is ideal for business users who want a big screen, good connectivity options and above all, a solidly built unit for the road. There's not much wrong with it at all.

The Toshiba Satellite A200 is a solid workhorse of a machine with plenty of processing power under its hood. Without question, it's the best A200 we have tested to date.

HP has done a nice job at creating a good all-round user experience with the Entertainment PC range and this machine is no exception. The performance is much better than the dv2000 family we've looked at earlier but the battery life could do with a boost.

If you need a machine with a 17in display that will play your movies, download your photos, store your music, play games and has connectivity that will work both on the road and in your living room, the Pavilion dv9018TX will do a good job.

This is a nice little unit with plenty of features. It performed well, has good connectivity and is quite portable.

The new Dell Inspiron is a very nice choice if you're after a powerful and stylish notebook. We were impressed by just about every aspect of its performance and the new look gives it a touch of flare to boot.

Admittedly there's little to this Pavilion that we haven't seen from the range before, but as the saying goes, if it ain't broke don't fix it. The Blu-ray player is clearly a great bonus, as is the HDMI output. If you're after a notebook to handle your entertainment, this is a good option.

The E6310's improvements over the last iteration are grand, and it's quite competitive among other notebooks at this price range, too. If you're after a machine capable of dealing with both aspects of your daily life then look no further.

Sony's VAIO FZ17G is a great multimedia notebook which offers a HDMI output and couples it with solid performance and a nice array of features.

With power, connectivity and functionality at your fingertips there's little to complain about. The BenQ Joybook R56 offers some nice new features in a solid, usable machine.
