With stacks of features and plenty of connectivity, the F8Va is the perfect choice for the home user who wants a mid-sized desktop replacement unit. Its battery life is poor, and we think its design could be better, but it's a solid unit overall.

The ASUS X55SV-AS081C has an excellent range of ports and networking connections and doesn't cost the world. If you can stand the drab design and can't spend more than $1800, this notebook should be seriously considered.

This budget buy looks good and includes some nice options (FireWire, TV-out, card reader) and free extras (mouse, carry bag), but you don't get a DVD writer and the processor doesn't help with battery life.

You're going to pay extra for the flamboyance of this notebook, but if you're willing to pay for it you won't be disappointed. The ASUS Lamborghini VX2s has plenty of power, good battery life and looks stunning.

The Asus W5Fe has an interesting design and some cool features. The SideShow is not a hugely useful tool, but it's definitely fun and may become a more worthwhile feature as more gadgets are developed. If you're after a notebook with a good mix of features and great battery life then you'll like the W5Fe.

Centrino Pro has definitely brought some interesting benefits to the game and the Asus F3Sv is a prime example of what can be done with this hot new hardware.

Sturdy, speedy and yet simple, the F3Sv has some perks, but mainly it just gets the job done. The TV tuner is a nice addition and so is the DVI port. If you're after a unit that will run a wide array of applications without too much pizzazz, the F3Sv is a good choice.

Although we are unable to fully test this product right now, the concept of a notebook with 3G and GPS built-in is a promising sign for the convergence of mobile technology. However, the inclusion of e-SATA and HDMI already puts up a few gold stars for the ASUS U3S.

While this notebook hasn't excelled in anything particular, it shows enough aptitude in the key area's of business usage to do the job well.

Apart from its redesigned lid, the BenQ Joybook S32B (BV14) is virtually indistinguishable from the the previous S32 iteration. It will suit both business and casual users looking for an affordable notebook for undemanding applications.
