As a basic CD, MP3 and radio player the XL-UH25H does its job admirably. If you’re looking for thrilling sound quality or advanced functionality, though, you’d best look elsewhere.

Sharp’s CD-MPX880H is a sound system that has legacy format support in the form of two cassette trays, as well as a five-CD stacker. It fulfils its tasks admirably but we would have liked to see some more advanced features like USB support.

LG’s XA63 is a solid mini Hi-Fi system. Its advanced features are more novel than useful, but it handles most tasks easily.

The XL-UH2080H is a mouthful of a name for such a small hi-fi system. It performs its tasks admirably, as long as you don't expect it to blow you away with booming bass.

Teac's PCDV125L stereo is a portable model that maintains the functionality found in a more traditional mini hi-fi system. If you're moving around constantly but want the ability to listen to music and watch movies, it's a good choice.

The FB163 is a product with plenty of functionality — USB inputs, DVD and DivX playback and an iPod dock. It sounds great, but the implementation of these extra features isn't as smooth as it could have been.

For a system aimed at casual radio and CD listeners, the NX4CD offers great looks and an easy to use interface.

A system with a huge range of inputs, including Bluetooth, the Sony CMT-HX5BT is a good choice for those with plenty of music. Unfortunately, the audio quality is let-down in the treble; however, the bass and mid-range are excellent.

The FB162 is a great way to be able to experience a fantastic range of audio sources all on a single device. Its jack-of-all-trades nature may dissuade those looking for something specific, but those after an all-rounder type system will be well served with this product.

Overall it's quite a respectable unit, which will suit casual users.
