The Nokia N78 has some excellent features, but it is let down by poorly designed controls. If you can overlook this issue, it's a neat handset that has plenty to offer.

If you’re purely after a phone for imaging, then the C905 will be right up your alley. While we’re still waiting for optical zoom, the photos it produces are pretty noteworthy for a camera phone. An excellent design and good build quality are slightly let down by a somewhat sluggish user interface and a proprietary headphone jack.

The W980i is Sony Ericsson’s most stylish clamshell yet. A great combination of style and features, 8GB of memory and excellent headphones make this one of the best music handsets currently on the market.

Sony Ericsson’s latest Cyber-shot phone has an impressive mix of imaging and phone functions. There are a few minor issues, but on the whole this is a welcome addition to the market.

The Omnia is Samsung’s attempt at pushing Windows Mobile as far into the background as possible, but it’s certainly not perfect. With more tweaking to the TouchWIZ interface and a bit more speed, this could potentially knock the iPhone off its perch. As it stands though, it's an admirable handset without being outstanding.

Unlike its predecessor, the N96 isn't revolutionary but it remains a reasonable upgrade to the N95. It’s expensive and the DVB-H feature is useless in Australia, but as a multimedia device it is one of the better mobile phones on the market.

For heavy text input, the Touch Pro is a much better option than its little brother, the Touch Diamond. There are still plenty of issues, but the sluggish interface has been slightly improved, and removable storage is a welcome addition.

The 6600 Fold is style personified. This mid-range 3G handset may not offer a wealth of features, but its design, OLED display and build quality will appeal.

The Treo Pro is Palm’s most stylish smartphone yet. Good looks, ease of use and the latest features make this a well-rounded choice.

The U900’s adaptive touch control system makes using this handset a breeze. Although it’s not without its faults, the overall package combines a stylish and well built frame with the latest HSDPA technology, ensuring this is an excellent choice for most consumers.

The iPAQ 612c offers a fairly impressive list of features and bundles them to form a reasonable device. The lack of HP software is disappointing and the scroll wheel could use some work, but there is plenty to like about this handset on the whole.
