For those who are fairly sporty anyway, the Wii Fit may end up more of a check-and-balance device rather than a full-on trainer, as it seems not to have endurance tests and actively slowed us down when jogging. For all that, it's a brilliant idea. Wii approve.

Sony have certainly made a giant leap forward in handheld gaming and I'm sure Nintendo are keeping a close eye on them, but while the games are top notch, the multimedia components could have been better and far more flexible. Still, she's a sexy beast of a machine that's earned the lust of gamers everywhere and justifiably so.

The Wii's ridiculously enjoyable titles and innovative, motion-sensitive controllers help make it feel more like a toy you'll want to share with a group of players than a console you'd use strictly on your own for hours on end. If you have a group of friends at the ready, or if you're looking to buy an affordable, fun console for yourself or your kids, get yourself a Wii.

The Xbox 360 is an incredible piece of hardware with very little great software to choose from. In the end, the potential for future brilliance far outweighs its immediate appeal.

The Xbox 360 Elite is an attractive new shell for an already impressive gaming console. We would have liked to see the new features handled a little better but overall, it's still the same as the original Xbox 360.

While it will take a swipe at your bank balance, Sony's Playstation 3 is definitely a powerful machine. Offering incredible graphics and the added bonus of a Blu-Ray drive, it is a great console to complete your high definition lounge room setup.

It's expensive, but could be worth every cent for the fantastic experience if you love racing games.
