The FM37 is a brilliant portable media player which brings touch screen functionality properly into the media player space. While the screen itself is quite sensitive and takes some getting used to, it is quite intuitive and the rest of the features are very well implemented.

The NW-805 comes with a hefty price tag, but if you can overlook the reliance on SonicStage, this is a fine portable media player with an excellent design and good sound quality.

Well-designed, easy to use and feature-rich, the YP-T9B will suit anyone looking for a 2GB media player. It's an excellent buy.

This stylish looking portable media player comes with some excellent features and a nice long battery life. It offers some great added functionality to an otherwise full selection of media capabilities, but a better screen would have been nice and the lack of FM radio is disappointing.

The X20 is a great digital media player offering all the bells and whistles you'd expect and combining them with some nifty features like a mini-SD card slot and a removable battery.

The Epson P-5000 is a great device for professional photographers. While the high price tag means it is far from a mass market product, those who are regularly on the road taking pictures will really appreciate the extra storage.

While the E10 does provide video playback in an attempt to one-up the nano, this functionality needs some work. Aside, this is a solid unit and should satisfy those after a multipurpose digital media device at a reasonable price.

While the Zen V Plus isn't a ground breaking device, it performs quite well without any major problems.

The Zune may well make a solid addition to the MP3 player market. It's a nice-looking player offering good audio quality. However, its features (particularly the Wi-Fi) don't go as deep as they should. There's currently nothing to suggest that the birth of Zune marks the death of iPod.

The Om200 is a great effort from the relatively-unknown Olin, taking elements of the iPod's design and improving on it with extra features.

At this end of the market, you won't find another portable media player as full-featured as the Xinc Ultra. However usability needs serious work from both a hardware and software perspective.

There's certainly no shortage of pocket-sized media players on the market, but few have the quality and finesse of the iRiver Clix.
