At this price, the LN500 is an excellent choice, especially for a first time user. Text-to-speech technology, solid Destinator software and a stylish, slim design are enough to put this near the top of your list if you are on a budget

The upgraded MMP-401B offers text-to-speech technology, an improved user interface and red light, fixed speed camera and school zone warnings. At this price, it's good value.

The top-of-the-line Moov 370 features a clean look and feel thanks to its redesigned map and menu interface. The absence of split-screen technology is a disappointment, as is its speed, but traffic updates, safety alerts and Bluetooth help sweeten the deal.

The iCN 320 is a low cost GPS unit equipped with a basic features set and designed for use straight out of the box. This will appeal to new buyers who are put off by the high price of in car navigation, but those wanting more advanced options would be advised to look elsewhere.

The R600 is a solid, but not outstanding GPS unit. Its large display and simple user interface are positives, but the large, bulky size, combined with a lack of text-to-speech technology are downsides.

The Triton 400 provides the perfect companion for travelling and hiking. It doesn’t offer the luxuries of Magellan’s more expensive models, but it provides the necessities for successful travel at a fairly reasonable cost.

The C310 is an entry level model that is reasonably well priced for what it offers. First time users may take a while to grasp the bells and whistles of navigation, but otherwise, this is a solid unit.

The gogo CM310 is a very solid navigation device, even though its multimedia features aren't outstanding. But a fast, distinctive interface, an included 1GB SD card and USB card reader and the presence of turning "blinkers" differentiate the CM310 from the crowd.

The ONE XL adds a larger display and a new design to an already outstanding GPS unit. At this price, it's the best value for money on the market and combines excellent navigation and an outstanding user experience.

The F40 is a mid-range unit, with an excellent user interface and clear maps. The included hands-free module only sweetens the deal.

The Colorado 300 provides a slightly cheaper, non-touch-screen alternative to the Oregon 300. With both models proving good combination automotive/handheld GPS devices, the decision largely comes down to your preferred control scheme.

The Oregon 200 is a stripped-down version of the Oregon 300. It has many of the same benefits and flaws of the more expensive model. If you want to save money and don’t need wireless sharing or relief shading, go for the Oregon 200.
