Magellan's CrossoverGPS unit is a fair effort, but it's lacking in some areas. If you do your fair share of walking and boating though, this is definitely worth a look.

It may have a hefty price tag but the Triton 2000 offers plenty of features. The touch screen makes this device much easier to use than units that only have a navigational pad.

The iCN 720 is a solid GPS unit that works well and includes a digital camera, navigation using photos, 4-inch touch screen, remote control and easy to navigate interface.

While we have seen other GPS units equipped with basic safety warnings, the Road Sense sofware on the RoadAngel Navigator is by far the most extensive and practical implementation of safety features we have seen on a GPS to date.

A solid easy to use GPS unit. The iCN 550 has an easy to use interface and comes pre-loaded with Australia, Europe and North America maps.

If you spend a lot of time driving around unfamiliar areas by yourself, the iQue M5 could be a substantial time saver. It is well-built and easy-to-use, but a little pricey.

A large 3.8' screen and fast processor speed can't compensate for the bulky size and lack of both a touch screen and internal battery on the iCN 635. The hefty price tag also counts against this unit.

The TomTom GO 500 adds handsfree capabilities to an already impressive set of GP features.

While Tom Tom does get credit for trying with the Rider, there are some key flaws with this GPS solution that have to be overcome.

The zumo 550 is without doubt an excellent option if you need a GPS unit for your motorcycle or scooter.

The AVN2210p is far from perfect, but it's a nice example of what can be achieved by combining personal navigation and in-car entertainment. It's a very solid unit with a couple of nifty features and the fact that the GPS unit is detachable will be a selling point for many consumers – not to mention its very reasonable asking price.

We like the idea of a large touchscreen but the Uniden GNS 8600 is a little too big to be practical, despite its excellent features. The lack of an internal battery, slow interface and high price tag all count against what could have been an excellent product.
