If you want a convenient way to stream a large music collection from your PC to up to two rooms in the house, Sonos' 130 Bundle can't be overlooked. It doesn't have a USB port, so it can't play music off a directly-attached external hard drive, for example; its sound quality is a little flat, the ZonePlayers don't have headphone jacks and its controller doesn't scroll long song titles -- but apart from those quibbles, it's bloody close to being perfect

If you already own a Sonos system, the new Zone Players offer no compelling reason to upgrade, unless you have significant range problems. But for new buyers, the updated hardware should make the system even more reliable, especially in large homes.

Expensive for a streaming audio system, but has unique features and an elegant design lacking in other systems.

While we experienced some problems using a Sonos system with a ZoneBridge, they weren't out of the ordinary (unfortunately) for network streaming devices. We'd still recommend a ZoneBridge if you're going to spring for a Sonos system and your router is in an area of the house where you don't plan on listening to tunes.

The Sony DSTHD100 is innovative and easy to use, despite a few minor flaws.

The Sony SVR-HD900 is an easy to use and feature filled hard disk recorder with 250GB of space for both standard definition and high definition TV.

If you have HDMI capable devices at home and don't mind being without analogue connections, the Sony HTSF1000 might be a good choice, offering great sound and a stylish design.

While it is a little too costly, the FXG9K is a solid home theatre package, offering good quality audio and combining it with a five disc changer and a HDMI connection.

A solid though unspectacular model that makes a good choice for those who are new to Home Theatre
