AAD’s M Series surround sound home theatre offers great sound quality for movies at an affordable price. The speakers are quite light and easy to set up, although their styling is more conservative than impressive.

The Acer Aspire E700 Model S manages to work on both levels, as a PC and as a media centre. It has some upgrade potential, but the configuration we tested will easily handle a wide variety of functions.

Acer has done a great job of disguising this PC as a set-top box. It's easy to setup and simple to use. We would highly recommend waiting for the Core 2 Duo refresh before purchasing this product. However, if you need something right away it will still handle most tasks easily.

The Acer Aspire iDea 510 makes a set-top box out of a computer, without losing many of the perks of a PC. It's reasonably easy to set up and it worked with a number of test displays. It performed well enough in our performance tests for a media centre, and it did it quietly, too.

If you have a bundle of cash and are looking for a good looking device to add to your home theatre or a PC that can handle most media related tasks, then the Maestro is for you. If you are looking for a gaming PC, you may want to look elsewhere.

The PT8051 is an impressive integrated unit. It handles movie audio well, despite not having a subwoofer and relying on flat-panel speaker technology. It's also easy to set up and can decode digital signals from DVD and Blu-ray players.

Although we feel it could do more, Apple TV is a simple and effective way to get content from your PC or Mac into your lounge room.

If you're after a simple way to share a broadband connection between several computers with the added benefit of being able to pipe music through your house, look no further. Be prepared to pay for Apple's styling, though.

The ASUS Digital Home D22 is a great all around media centre. It offers dual HD tuners, with a HDMI output, meaning it will be useful for a great many years to come.

The ASUS Internet Radio (AIR) is an excellent Internet radio with good sound and rock solid design.

When it's plugged in, it just works. It's good for someone wanting to watch an AV source, like cable TV in another room on another TV.

A great product, although ultimately its usefulness hinges on the use of a USB hard disk drive instead of an internal one. If this appeals to you, then the DP-H1 is well worth considering.
