Topfield has done nearly everything right with the TF5000PVRt. It's beautifully designed, can talk to PCs and is only lacking when it comes to HDTV.

Toshiba's SD-63HK is a great solution for those looking for an easy, all-in-one home theatre kit, but its low volume makes it a best suited to a small room.

It's initially tricky to operate, but the RD-XS34 offers plenty of powerful features and is a gem once you've mastered it.

While it is missing 1080p support and has a somewhat sluggish interface, the HD-E1 is a well priced High Definition player that supports both DVD and HD-DVD, and outputs exceptional image quality.

While the HD-XE1 is without a doubt the best HD-DVD player on the Australian market, it's also the most expensive. Non-enthusiasts may find the HD-XE1's asking price a little high, and ultimately may be better served by a more affordable model.

A combo device that goes beyond the minimum requirements to get ticks in the specifications table. Toshiba has put together a high-quality device.

The standard-definition Unimax ST-102 has a full range of features, and no major flaws at all.
