5. Effects are added in much the same way as Transitions. Select the clip you want to apply the effect to and choose Tools, Effects. Choose an effect from the Contents pane and click Play in the preview monitor to preview it. Now choose Clip, Add to Timeline or Add to Storyboard.

6. Titles and credits appear on a separate track in Timeline view. To make them appear before or after the clip, place them on the Timeline's Video track. Place them on the Title Overlay track to make them appear over the top of a clip. Click Tools, Titles and Credits, select your title and type into the Enter text for title box.

7. To alter the title animation click 'Change the title animation and select an animation from the list'. Adjust the font and colour if necessary by clicking Change the text and font and colour, then click Add Title. You can adjust the duration of the title or credit by clicking the end trim handle and dragging it.
