Toshiba has entered the portable storage market with the launch of an external hard drive range.

The 2.5in USB 2.0 drives are available in 160GB, 250GB and 320GB sizes.

The drives will be shipped with an automated backup software suite called NTI Shadow, which promises to be easy to use even for computer novices.

They are fully mobile, powered only through the computer's USB port, and compatible with XP, Vista and Mac OS 10.3.9 or later.

The 160GB variant has a $149 RRP, the 250GB model is $199, and the 320GB is $249.
