The E-520 carries a Live MOS sensor, which Olympus has been using in their SLRs for several generations. With 10-megapixels of resolution backed up by the Truepic III processing engine, it should produce some impressive images. Making a welcome return is Olympus' dust reduction technology, which is the best sensor-cleaning solution on the market. This is an invaluable inclusion for users who regularly change lenses. Image stabilisation is also built in to the body, meaning it will operate with any lens supported by the camera. Another familiar face is Live View: a technology Olympus pioneered in the SLR space several years ago. Allowing you to use the LCD display to frame a shot rather than being restricted to the viewfinder, this mode is great for taking those slightly more tricky pictures. Other features of this unit include a 3.5 frame per second burst mode, face detect and shadow adjust technology and wireless flash support, all of which make it an appealing purchase for users after something a little above entry level.
