Pros and cons of MP3 players

Pros

  • Can usually support playlists created on your PC

  • Some are compact and light

  • Flash memory players have no moving parts (unlike CD or hard disk models) - reducing the chance of skipping and increasing battery life

  • Can store massive quantities of music

  • Often contain extra features such as radios, voice recorders and games

Cons

  • More expensive than older format devices such as Discmans or Walkmans

  • Some storage formats (such as MP3) could be superseded

  • Encoding files and transferring data can be time consuming

  • Audio quality may not be great depending on how you encode your music
