Twenty08 MobileChat 3 27/08/2008 14:15:00
Until now, Palringo has been the only legitimate cross-service instant messaging program for the iPhone. We didn’t dislike the app, but in a lucrative market like mobile instant messaging it was unlikely to go unchallenged. Twenty08’s MobileChat 3 allows users to connect to up to six different IM protocols and chat using a telco's 3G network or a local Wi-Fi network. The program provides some useful features, but poor implementation and numerous bugs make it a poor competitor to the free alternative offered by Palringo. - +

Sony Australia has added four new micro-portable business projectors to expand its E-series line of video projection systems.
The new VPL-EW5, VPL-EX50, VPL-EX5 and VPL-ES5 are successor models to the VPL-EX4 and VPL-ES4, launched last year, and all four have a "3-LCD panel system" that delivers images of up to 2500 ANSI lumens of brightness.
For the first time in the E-series, the VPL-EW5, VPL-EX50 and VPL-EX5 utilize Sony's BrightEra imaging technology which incorporates an inorganic alignment layer within the LCD panel, making the display panels more resistant to damage from UV energy while allowing for increased brightness and contrast.
These projectors deliver consistently vibrant, high resolution images with enhanced detail, achieving up to WXGA and XGA resolutions with a high contrast ratio of up to 900 to one.
Sony is pitching the new projectors for use in small to medium-sized venues such as boardrooms, classrooms and at home.
The "Off & Go" function allows the AC power cord to be unplugged once the unit is turned off without having to wait for the projector to cool down.
All four projectors reduce power consumption to below three watts in standby mode.
In addition, halogenated flame retardants are also not used in the production of the projector chassis and printed wiring boards which can generate dioxin, a harmful carcinogen, when burnt.
The new projectors are priced from $999 to $1795.
