Omni MF1100

If you want a cheap MP3 player and don't care about sound quality, functionality, design or interface, well we'd question exactly what you are looking for in a product. But if you are still set on doing yourself such a disservice then maybe you shou...

Nikon Coolpix S6

Nikon's Coolpix S6 is a disappointing entry into the compact camera market. While it does offer most of the features you'd expect, its pictures are below par, and struggled in our image quality tests.

Nikon D40

Offering a great entry level SLR experience, Nikon's D40 is a well priced unit that is clearly designed to compete with Canon's own low-end SLR, the EOS 400D. It captures clear, precise images and performs excellently in low light. We were also impre...

Toshiba HD-E1

Toshiba's HD-E1 is the first HD-DVD player we've had through the office. While we looked at the Qosmio G30 notebook with a built in HD-DVD drive, the HD-E1 is a different animal all together, as it is a standalone home entertainment device designed t...

NU Dolphin Swimmer MP3 Player

A small, waterproof, flash-based MP3 player sounds like a nifty idea, and this is what Nu has tried to create in their latest digital music device, the Dolphin. However, while the idea may be a good one, the execution leaves a lot to be desired, as t...

Megxon MX7

Following hot on the heels of products like Aiptek's [[prodid:2050]] is Megxon's MX7 digital camera. Sporting a 7 megapixel CCD sensor, it tries to be a little of everything, capturing both still pictures and video footage, as well as offering MP3 pl...

Canon PowerShot A640

Increased megapixel counts seem to be the flavour of Canon's new range of advanced cameras, highlighted by units such as the PowerShot A640. With a 10 megapixel sensor, full manual modes and a snazzy matte black colour scheme, this unit continues the...

Canon Digital IXUS 850 IS

Following the now familiar design of Canon's IXUS series of compact cameras, the IXUS 850 IS is a decent, but not outstanding device. While it does offer good colour representation, it suffers from high chromatic aberration, soft pictures and a few i...

Shure E500

There is a rare breed of people for whom, spending more than $700 on a pair of headphones isn't just a rarity, but a somewhat regular occurrence. If you consider yourself an audiophile, and have been craving something new to pair with your iPod, the ...

Oregon Scientific Smart Globe

Recently at GoodGearGuide we seem to have encountered an increasingly large number of toys that have the ability to speak. While devices such as the [[prodid:2478]], with its eerie comments about watching when we sleep, are just downright spooky, the...

Panasonic BMP-BD10

As the 1080p era is finally unleashed on the home entertainment market, Panasonic release the DMP-BD10, their first offering for High Definition movie playback. Like the Samsung [[prodid: 2642]], this Blu-Ray product is aimed squarely at early adopte...

Olin OE102

Olin has recently released a slew of products into the already saturated portable audio space. Resembling the Cygnett [[prodid:2173]] headphones we looked at before, the OE102 headphones are a hybrid, falling somewhere between earbuds and canalphones...

Canon IXUS i7 Zoom

With a thin, candybar design quite similar to several slim phones on the market at the moment, Canon's Ixus i7 Zoom is an attractive camera for the fashion conscious. Clearly constructed with style and portability in mind, it does suffer a little wit...

Cygnet Groove Bassbudz

As a cheap, portable, in-ear headphone, the Bassbudz are a great product. As their name would suggest they are extremely bass heavy, but the overall sound is excellent, with solid separation and a nice balance between mids and highs. Their only real ...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50

Panasonic's latest pseudo-SLR, the FZ50, includes a 10 megapixel sensor and 12x optical zoom. While it doesn't capture the best pictures we've seen, they are quite good, and combined with a robust feature set and a few nice design elements, the FZ50 ...

STYLISTIC Q572

For work use, Microsoft Word and Excel programs pre-installed on the device are adequate for preparing short documents.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
